Article Writing - I Am a Grammar Freak. Are You?

In a forum I visit, I was complaining about the time me it takes to write an article. A friend on the forum wrote back. He said that I was a grammar freak. And you know what, he was right. Heck, I even check and double-check my everyday emails. Can you believe that? Well it's true.

In grade school, grammar was hammered into our little brains. It made a permanent indentation in my gray matter. But, I think that was a good thing. That is one less thing I have to be concerned about when attempting to write a quality article.

Aside from content being king, grammar and spelling do make a difference in the acceptance of your article by publishers. I am sure you have seen articles on the internet that look and sound like gibberish. I cannot accept the thought that someone would intentionally submit those articles for publication.

I am not referring to those that have English as a second language. That writing is excusable. I would not want to write in French or German. I would take a shot at it if that were where the money was. Wouldn't you?

I refer to those articles that are spun out from some mechanical, robotic, programmed software. Those people, I can't call them authors, must punch some non-magical button and the words spit out in a jumble like toothpicks falling out of box. Honestly, they cannot have submitted them with a clear conscience had they just looked at the output. What do you think?

All this leads me to this, are you a grammar freak? Yes? Well good for you. No? That's, okay too. There is hope. I discovered that I could let my word processor do most of the grammatical corrections for me.

And, you can write your articles at one sitting without going back over every word as you type. Later, you can come back and edit at a different sitting. It makes a big difference. It is much faster.

In article marketing two things must be present, good content and good ad copy. The reader must feel that he is getting information for his trouble and you must be able to sell him with your words. The two go hand in hand. That does not mean that you throw grammar and spelling to the wind. It does mean that the average reader will overlook occasional grammatical errors.

There are many definitions for unique quality content. Most of them are subjective. For article marketing purposes we can say that it is content that provides information. It provides information that solves a problem or describes a product. That is pretty simple and not to hard to do.

The second ingredient is ad-copy or sales copy also known as copywriting. This is where many article writers are weak. Unless you know how to incorporate copywriting into your articles, you won't sell product. You can have great content, write grammatically correct and not misspell a word, but without good copywriting techniques, you may get a lot of views, but no sales.

Whether you are a grammar freak or not, if you have not mastered the skill of article copywriting your sales will suffer.

If you are serious about improving your writing skills, and I expect you are, because are reading this, I suggest you owe it to yourself to use a training and coaching course on article writing and continue your article writing journey anew.
